Garage Door Controls - Many doors

Anyone familiar with a supplier who has a system that can handle alot of doors from a single remote.. say 8 maybe?

I've looked at the usual suspects and haven't found a solution yet.

I was thinking about something with Lutron, figure a wireless keypad with 8 or more buttons, but I'm not sure it would be nice to use in the car. Drive the door operators off the CCO-8 card or similar.

I'd love some additional ideas. If it was a standalone system designed for this purpose, that would be even better.

very similar to you inclination but you could use an RF remote (RTI or Crestron) that is hooked up 8 relays.

I think Wayne Dalton has some that use Z-wave for their openers. I remember something about it from a Leviton class and them giving some example of using it with their Vizia lighting system. Dont know off the top of my head how to make it work, but there may be something.

Another thought, garage doors are usually opened from the house with a button that is just a contact (Arent they?). If you can get wire to the openers, you could use the relays on say an XP-8. But thats still going to bring you back to a remote in the car. I dont see a way to get around some kind of remote or wireless keypad.
Why didn't I listen to the wisdom of Al Bundy?

We've done this, with the Crestron WPR-48. Each of their cars has one installed in it and powered by the cars electronics so no charger/battery. At their gate there is a gateway to trigger the gate and then there are more wireless receivers around the house to pick up the different garage door entries. I think they have 7 or 8 doors at least.

Another thought is RFID but the programming and setup would be more complicated. It would have to be based on which door the car was at.

    I don't have a good answer, but I do have a warning.
Do NOT plan on using a Wayne Dalton opener or zwave bridge.
They make a nice garage door, but their openers and associated hardware are steaming piles of total crap.

I've had 2 in my own house that have been replaced twice and totally rebuilt mulitple times over the past 7 years. They are the most unreliable piles of crap ever produced. My favorite part was when they would just open on their own while I was out of town.

I would not wish them on my enemy.

Re: Garage Door Controls - Many doors

So currently each garage door has its own opener? Is there a central box that houses all of the relays or is there just one wire from the motor to the switch?

If you've got all the relays in one place, here's an inexpensive, standalone 5-button solution. So you'd either need two of the keyfobs or you'd have to assign three of the buttons to open 2 doors at a time.

It's simple stuff, but the product is sold only to professionals -- any security dealer could do it. Price of the wireless relay board + 5-button keyfob is probably less than $200.

You can do a Control4 system with Card Access remote. The remote has multiple pages of programmable buttons and comes with a visor clip.

A lot would depend on how you expect things to work. Giving access to a choice of garage doors would likely mean some form of RF button controllers that users would have to have in each car. If it was a case of each car had a specific garage space, then the RFID option might be worth looking into. You would have to also consider if the client was already outside, and decided he wanted to get one of the cars out does he have to use a keypad attached to the garage door frame, or with RFID his keychain could open any door he walked up to, like a card swipe.

You can use a Linear 9 door transmitter
    http://www.linearcorp.com/product_de...?productId=612

I think this is the receiver and it is a 3 channel.
